In the days before refrigerators, freezers and supermarkets, planning and provisioning a balanced menu for the average household was very much a day by day affair.
The choice of foods presented at the table was limited to season and local availability, and yet Victorian cooks went about the tasks of preparing appetizing family meals with thrift, tenacity and imagination.
Mike the joint owner and the chef of the restaurant at the mulberry house plans and prepares on a daily basis, just as the Victorians used to. Every dish is lovingly cooked to order, no processed food or microwaves are used. Mike is famous for his mulberry mushroom tart and with much demand for the recipe he has agreed to sell the recipe for a mere £1.00.
Mike and jeni also joint owner of the mulberry house would like dinners to relax with a pre-dinner drink in their lounge area in front of one of their open fire’s .The whole restaurant has a very informal and very friendly atmosphere feel to it, Also at certain times of the year live relaxing music will be played while you eat your dinner .Jeni and mike would like to emphasise that the table is yours for the evening and they want you to take your time and savour each dish.
